Action for AIDS (AFA) is proud to present two visual arts exhibition to raise awareness of the issues and stigma surrounding HIV and AIDS - HIV Art Exhibition: The Challenge & The Hope and the Digital Art Against AIDS.
About HIV Art Exhibition - The Challenge & The Hope:
HIV Art Exhibition is produced solely by HIV Positive Individuals from Singapore and the exhibition is the first of its kind in Singapore.
This exhibition hopes to give the public a glimpse into the lives of HIV-infected people, and the toll it has been on them. In doing so we hope to also raise awareness of HIV and AIDS and to enlighten the audience in the way we all think about the disease and those affected by it.
Many HIV infected people live in silence with their pain and suffering. Through their art, a number of infected individuals are relating their experiences as well as their hopes for a better life for themselves and for those around them.
There are a total of 35 works painted in the last year. The exhibition will remind people that HIV is as devastating a condition in Singapore as it is worldwide. The art works reflect the artists’ hopes, desperation, celebration, fear and dreams about HIV/AIDS and their phpirations for the future.
About the Art Against AIDS:
Art Against AIDS, a competition running since 1996, encourages community participation particularly among the youth. This year, Art Against AIDS goes digital, presenting works from Digital Photography, Digital Video & Animation and Digital Graphic/Poster Design.
The exhibition will be held at the National Library at 100 Victoria Street Road from the 5th till the 26th of December on the 8th floor promenade. The venue of the exhibition has been generously sponsored by the National Library Board.
